THIS FRIDAY: Movies on the Mile Goes Back to the Future with Popgun
Posted on July 5, 2016
Hop in the Bicentennial Park time machine as the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department presents an evening of time travel with Popgun and Back to the Future (1985), as part of our Movies on the Mile series!
After musing about whether he would have befriended his father if they had been school-mates, Bob Gale wrote the 1985 science-fiction comedy adventure Back to the Future. Now a cinema classic, the film tells the story of Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) who is accidentally sent thirty years into the past to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown. In an effort to save his own existence, Marty must make sure his young parents fall in love. Following its 1985 release, Back to the Future grossed over $389 million worldwide, marking the beginning of a franchise with two sequels, an animated series, theme park ride, several video games and a forthcoming musical.
Setting the mood for an evening of future to flashback fun is Popgun. Comprised of some of Central Ohio’s most practiced musicians, Popgun puts a spunky spin on a variety of classic pop tunes. Group members also perform with other outstanding bands from the area, including the Floorwalkers, HooDoo Soul Band, Strutterfly and the Dan White Sextet.
