FountainSide Fun Challenge: Inspired by Slate Run Living Historical Farm
Posted on July 24, 2016
This week’s FountainSide Fun Challenge comes from Metro Parks Slate Run Living Historical Farm! Turning time back to the 1880s, Slate Run looks to give visitors a first-hand experience of life on an old Ohio farm. Corn is Ohio’s second largest crop, and produces an average of 500 million bushels of corn every year! This week, as we take a closer look into life on a farm, we challenge YOU to create your own painting using corn-on-the-cob!
Need a snack while you create? Let your taste buds rest with “Pigs in a Blanket”!
Dig into farm life with your fountain friends to learn more about life in rural Columbus! Join Metro Parks Slate Run Living Historical Farm at FountainSide Wednesday, July 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
In addition to splashing around the fountain, dig into farm life with Bring the Farm to You, start your own garden with OSU Urban Arts Space and create a farm inspired mandala with Kya’s Krusade!
Additional activities this week are hosted by Lowe’s, Local Matters, COSI on Wheels, Columbus Zoo and Ohio History Connection.
Check out the Scioto Mile blog all summer long for a weekly FountainSide Fun Challenge. Our community partners will share and inspire an array of hands-on activities, crafts, and games for family-friendly fun at home all summer long.
