Festival Latino Returns for 20th Anniversary Celebration
Posted on August 9, 2016
The largest Latin event in Ohio marks its 20th anniversary this August. Festival Latino returns to the Scioto Mile! This two-day event which was conceived and produced by Columbus Recreation and Parks Department for 13 years before turning it over to CAPA in 2009 is a wonderfully fun, free and family-friendly celebration of community and Latin American culture. It will be held this year on Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14 from 11 am to 8 pm.
In addition to featuring authentic cuisine from Latin America, Festival Latino’s main stage in Bicentennial Park will showcase some of Latin music’s most accomplished and recognized artists such as Sergio Vargas, Grupo Niche, El Prodigio and Los Horoscopos de Durango, to name a few. Attendees can continue grooving at the Dance Plaza, on the west side of the Scioto River where sounds of classic Puerto Rican and Mexican dance music will fill the air. Local and Internationally recognized artists and authors will display and sell their works in the artist showcase area.
Additional festival features include the American Family Insurance Children’s Area and the Health and Wellness Area which features various community resources and partners, as well as the Festival Latino Marketplace where visitors can shop for jewelry, arts, crafts and a variety of traditional Latin American items.
The event is ‘rain or shine’ and paid parking is available at COSI, the Columbus Commons Garage and nearby surface lots. Bicycle racks will be located at various locations throughout the festival. For more information, including the festival schedule and map, visit: www.FestivalLatino.net
